A major automotive plant in Windsor, Ontario discovered the benefits of using a SERAPID Rigid Chain actuator instead of pneumatic actuation on scissor lift tables.  Two pneumatic lifts had been installed several years earlier as part of a pallet conveyor transfer system.  Over time, the pneumatic actuators began to lose pressure whenever they were not in use between shifts. This loss of pressure left the tables at a lower elevation than was required to match the surrounding conveyors.  As a result, pallets became stuck causing serious downtime on the line. 

Dual SERAPID HD Lift 60 actuators were selected to replace the pneumatics on the two lifts.  Loss of elevation worries were eliminated due to the mechanical nature of the rigid chain actuator and positioning accuracy was increased allowing for the continuous smooth conveyance of the pallets.  Considerable time and cost savings relating to both maintenance and downtime were key factors in the client's decision to replace the original pneumatic units with SERAPID rigid chain lifts.
