Trans-Quip Inc. is pleased to bring SERAPID Rigid Chain Technology to Canada. With successful applications for over 30 years in France and over 10 years in the USA, SERAPID Rigid Chain systems offer a new mechanical actuation option for designers and product engineers.

How does it work?

A chain with special links featuring a hook-like extension called “the shoulder” serves as a joint between neighbouring links. When force is applied, the shoulders interlock and make the chain as rigid as a jack. At their cross-axes, the links are connected flexibly. Thus, the rigid chain can still bend and coil-up for efficient storage.

Rigid chains can be used for both horizontal and vertical applications.

Horizontal / Push-Pull Examples:

  • Quick die exchange machines (QDX)
  • Insertion of nuclear fuel rods into a reactor
  • Translating and positioning carts / pallets into a furnace
  • Depalletizing systems
  • Change of direction in conveyor systems
  • Linear motion of product through an industrial washing machine

Vertical / Lift - Lower Examples:

  • Lift tables and platforms
  • Stage lifts
  • Orchestra pit lifts
  • Door opening / closing in nuclear facility
  • Stainless steel lifting units for moving containers or radioactive waste
